In support and promotion of the Latvian Quantum Initiative, Dr. Tom Yager from the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) joined together with Swedish colleague Dr. Qin Wang from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden for a quantum technology tour in Sweden, in connection with the CAMART2 collaboration.

From the September 26 to the October 3 they visited several laboratories at three of the main Swedish quantum hubs at Chalmers University of Technology (Göteborg), Linköping University (Linköping), AlbaNova University Center and Electrum Laboratory (Stockholm). During the tour, Dr Tom Yager introduced the Latvian Quantum Initiative project and updated the latest progress in the areas of quantum electronic and photonic nanodevices as well as quantum computation and communications, with fruitful and strategic discussions on deepening international quantum collaborations.

On the September 26 and 27, the group visited two Labs at Chalmers led by Dr. Rui Lin and Dr. Samuel Lara-Avila. They presented their latest activities on quantum switches in the ongoing National Quantum Communication Infrastructure Sweden (NQCIS) and discussed the possibilities of exploring 2D materials for quantum applications.

On the September 30, Prof. Katia Gallo, the coordinator of NQCIS, and her group hosted the visiting group from ISSP and RISE, having fruitful discussions regarding quantum technology, especially on the potential collaboration to implement quantum chips into the NQCIS network. On the same day, the group also had the opportunity to visit Dr. Andreas Rydh at the Quantum Materials Characterisation group at Stockholm University for advanced measurement of quantum materials and states down to 15 mK temperatures.

On the October 2, the group visited one of the NQCIS nodes at Linköping University, led by Dr. Guilherme B Xavier. Dr. Xavier is leading one of the work packages in NQCIS and he expressed a desire for a possible collaboration with ISSP and RISE, to test new integrated quantum chips as building blocks in the testbed in his Quantum Technologies Lab.
