The Rector of the University of Latvia, Professor Indriķis Muižnieks, told the guests about studies and research at the University of Latvia and the development of the Academic Center while Professor Vyacheslavs Kashcheyevs gave a comprehensive presentation on the working principles and development of quantum technology as well as about the main directions of activities of the Latvian Quantum Initiative – the research of the quantum software and algorithms, quantum devices and quantum communications.
Professor Andris Ambainis talked in detail about the principles of quantum computing and research in the field of quantum algorithms, carried out by the researchers of the Center for Quantum Computer Science of the UL, which has gained worldwide recognition, while researcher Mārtiņš Kālis presented the results and demonstrated the application of quantum algorithm within the joint research of the UL and the company "Accenture" on the use of quantum algorithms in the in radiology image analysis. Researcher Reinis Lazda presented the research conducted at the UL Laser Center and demonstrated the magnetometer.
At the end of the meeting, there was also the opportunity to see the Academic Center of the UL - the House of Science and the House of Nature.
